Arthur Kim, O.D.
Gillespie Eye Care is pleased to welcome Dr. Arthur Kim to the Gillespie Eye Care family. Dr. Kim will be the primary optometrist at our Brewster location, and he will also see patients once a week at our Grand Coulee location.
Dr. Kim practices full scope optometry with an emphasis on diagnosing and treating different ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and dry eyes. Dr. Kim has always enjoyed providing quality eye care to his patients and delights in the company of others.
Dr. Kim obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Andrews University in Michigan, and his Doctor of Optometry from the SUNY College of Optometry in New York. He was the vice president of his class at SUNY and was also a distinguished member of the Gold Key, a special society that is limited to a select number of students who demonstrate outstanding professional and ethical performance in their class, college, and profession.
During his training at SUNY, Dr. Kim enjoyed going on medical mission trips to Oaxaca, Mexico and Salinas Grandes, Nicaragua. Serving patients in these countries was a great joy. He shared the following story: “Once a grandmother came up to me after the exam was over and thanked me over and over. It was the first time she had EVER had an eye exam, and it was the first time she could see clearly. Moments like that make the job of a clinician so fulfilling.”
In his spare time, Dr. Kim likes to eat out at delicious restaurants with his wife, and watch movies at the theater. He also enjoys softball, basketball, tennis, and exploring the magnificent outdoor recreation that central Washington has to offer.
